The Strawberry Fair at St. Johns Church was a wonderful event and the sun shone as a large band of helpers prepared for the day. True to form, 20 minutes before it was due to start people were coming into the Church and volunteers were still hulling strawberries! However, all were welcomed by our greeting team and their tea was ready in minutes. Gradually queues formed and extra tables were needed, which were put up in typical PAB spirit.
The Mayor, Councilor June Stokes, welcomed everyone and declared the event open. As well as traditional cream teas, there was excellent entertainment by ‘Theatretrain’, and displays and exhibits for people to enjoy. These included a table of interest, information about the history of the Association, and a display celebrating the contribution of our dedicated volunteers, without whom PAB would never have endured for 100 years. It was great to welcome so many to a memorable celebration of our centenary year.
