VocalEyes have recently trained staff at the Duxford Imperial War Museum in guiding and audio description skills. From March the Informal Learning and Exhibitions team will be ready to offer an audio-described Aircraft Tour for Blind and partially sighted people. This will feature the American Air Museum in Britain, the mighty B-17 flying fortress, and stories about the lives of its crew. The tour will give you the opportunity to experience the equipment which was worn in below zero weather conditions during bombing, including flak jackets, helmets and heated flying suits.
IWM Duxford is set within the spacious grounds of the famous former First and Second World War airfield. Lose yourself for a whole day wandering under and around some of the most iconic aircraft in the world and get hands-on with our award-winning interactive exhibitions. IWM Duxford is home to an impressive collection of over two hundred aircraft as well as tanks, military vehicles and boats.
