Over the past five years, local Sainsbury’s stores have partnered with local charities and raised over £6 million. During May and June customers nominate their favorite local charity and then one is selected from the nominations and supported over the next 12 months through fundraising and volunteering.

As you may know, in July this year, Sainsbury’s Bretton selected PAB as their charity of the year and have been working with us on fundraising events for the last 6 months.

Our latest event was a Fun Day and bag pack on Saturday 20th December at the Bretton store. Again our members and volunteers responded to the call for people to bag pack in the shop, despite being just before Christmas!

We set up our information boards in the foyer again and had volunteers on hand to give advice, promote the services of the charity and encourage potential volunteers to get involved. We also set out our beautifully wrapped tombola prizes there and were immediately inundated with people wanting tickets! After just 2 hours, all the prizes were gone! The Name The Teddy game which was donated and run by Sylvie and Fred Wheeler was an equally big success and sold out before lunchtime.

Altogether we raised an incredible £731.21, so a huge thank you to Sainsbury’s and their staff for getting involved, the volunteers who gave up some of their day to help pack bags and to all the customers who gave so generously.
