This year’s Strawberry Tea was held on Saturday the 14th of June at St John’s Church in the heart of the City Centre. There was a great turn out and it was nice to see so many people there enjoying the company, food and entertainment! There were fresh strawberries and raspberries to choose from as well as scones or sponge cake too! Special thanks to Waitrose who donated all the strawberry teas this year, and to all the local businesses (see below) who donated prizes to the raffle, helping us to raise £602 for PAB outings and activities.
Entertainment this year was from the Peterborough School who kept the crowd thoroughly entertained with beautiful musical performances throughout the day! There were also interesting displays about living with sight loss and some of the aids and gadgets which are available to make life easier. We also had many PAB committee members on hand to offer information, help and advice.
There was a steady stream of people throughout the day – many had seen our promotional posters or flyers which were handed out around the city by our team of young volunteers and Giant Strawberry! It was also great to see so many PAB members and to meet some of their friends and relatives too.
We finished the day with a raffle drawn by two of the young volunteers. From teddy bears to gardening vouchers and meals out – there was something for everyone and it was a lovely way to end the day.
Special thanks to Norma and her team of volunteers who organised the event and helped make the day a success – from planning to clearing up at the end – we could not do it without you!
Thanks to all our sponsors for their generosity and time. With your support, we are able to make a big difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people living in Peterborough!
