Thank you to all of our volunteers and committee members who attended the PAB Volunteers Meeting on Saturday 11 January at our offices. The event was our opportunity for us to let our volunteers know our plans for them in 2014 by explaining how we plan to introduce and improve services we provide for our blind and partially sighted members in Peterborough.

Thank you also to Helen Sismore from Guide Dogs, who provided an hour of refresher training on the best sighted guide practices. Helen had the room laughing out loud with her sketch on how not to guide a blind or partially sighted person around a busy room! Please click here to see more photos of the event on our gallery page.

The event finished with tea, coffee and scones to allow all the volunteers to meet each other and the members of the Committee. We were also pleased to give out certificates to those volunteers who successfully passed the level 1 My Guide training course.

If you were unable to attend the event and have ideas on how we could improve our services, we would still appreciate any ideas you have, so please get in touch. Guide dogs are also making a copy of the training DVD available to us for anyone interested in learning the basic sighted guiding techniques. Please contact us for more information
