After 2 years as PAB Chairperson, Carol Abell stepped down at the February AGM to allow her to spend more time with her family. Carol will remain on the PAB committee and will of course continue volunteering. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to Carol for all of her hard work, dedication and leadership over the past two years.
Taking on the role of Chairperson is fellow committee member Sylvie Wheeler. Sylvie retired in 2001 due to her deteriorating eye sight (a result of developing Uveitis at the age of 16) and now dedicates a lot of her time to the PAB. We are sure that she will be great for this role!
“I have been a member of PAB since 2001 when I had to give up work because of deteriorating eye sight. I have been involved over the years with fundraising and attending various social events, and try to attend most coffee mornings. I was pleased to be asked to join the committee last April and since then I have worked closely with Norma Wildman to raise funds and awareness of PAB. We were fortunate to be able to do both when PAB was chosen by Sainsbury’s as charity of the year, and we were delighted to be selected for a second year. Our association with Sainsbury’s comes to an end in May; it has been a really successful partnership.
Looking to the future as chairperson I will do my best to represent PAB and help to bring to fruition our exciting plans for the near future, these being the appointment of an activities coordinator and a befriending coordinator. I know I have a hard act to follow, from John Hanington and our more recent chairperson, Carol Abell, who has given so much time and effort to the charity, but I am up for a challenge and I hope with the help of the committee, and all of you who are members, this will be achieved.” Sylvie Wheeler – PAB Chairperson
I’m sure you all join us in congratulating Sylvie on the appointment and the best of luck with the role.
