This year’s Great Eastern Run (half marathon) took place on Sunday 12th October and this year we had three runners who were supporting PAB. Running In our PAB t-shirts, they raised awareness of our cause along the way and all sponsorship money has been donated to the PAB.
Jonathan Read is a freelance financial advisor and PAB supporter, Vanessa Shepherd is from Sainsbury’s in Bretton (they recently named PAB as their charity of the year) and Philip Robinson is a student and son of Barbara Robinson – the PAB office manager. They all put in a lot of training and effort to help raise funds for us and we are extremely grateful to them.
Luckily the rain held off for the race and it was a beautiful day – with hundreds of supporters turning out to cheer on the runners. There was also entertainment at start/finish area so was a fun day out! Please click here to visit our gallery page to see more pictures of the day.
“Clement weather greeted runners as they assembled at the start line of the Great Eastern Run on Sunday. The atmosphere was incredible, and it was immensely gratifying to see so many people gathered both at the embankment and along the route. I happily jogged the first six miles or so until it began to dawn on me: thirteen miles really is quite a long way. Nonetheless the jubilant crowd kept me going, and I ended up finishing well before my target time. Many thanks to all those who came to support and donated.” Philip Robinson
