Welcome to The Peterborough Association for the Blind

We are a registered charity dedicated to helping visually impaired people and their carers find the right level of help to maintain their quality of life. We already support and provide activities to around 300 members and that number is growing at a rapid pace. According to the RNIB, this now makes an estimated 4,640 local people living with severe sight loss and why PAB are committed to offer the ongoing help and support that they might need.

Losing your sight or having a family member or friend who has suffered sight loss can be a difficult time. We can guide you through the process of registering as blind or partially sighted and provide information on the role of social services and other organisations that can help you, your family and carers.

We can signpost you to people who provide help with day-to-day living support, housing issues, financial management, benefits and attaining self-directed support and individual budgets. For issues outside our areas of expertise, we have developed a network of partners who are experts in their field to get the best outcomes for blind and partially sighted people, their family and carers.

Isolation and loss of confidence often accompanies the trauma of losing your sight. Through our activities, we aim to help individuals regain their confidence and feel less isolated so that they can take a more active part in the community. Many of our volunteers have some degree of sight loss themselves so can provide first hand help and support.
