Swimming is a great way to keep fit. Every Thursday you can join us at the Regional Swimming and fitness centre in Peterborough where we have special access to a sectioned off area of the main pool. As well as the professional life guards, there are at least 2 sighted guides in the pool with you to insure you don’t get into trouble – so whether you are an experienced swimmer or a novice, you will be able to swim safely.
Our sighted guides will also help you navigate the lockers and changing rooms. The centre has a disabled changing room with a locker and shower inside. You are welcome to bring your own guide and they can either join you in the pool or spectate. There is no admission fee for a guide. After the session, you are welcome to stay for a coffee or bite to eat in the cafe, and arrange to be picked up between 1.30 and 2pm
The first time you use the pool you can register for a ‘Vivacity Card’ (You will need to bring some form of proof of disability). The card costs £12 per year and will save you £1.90 each time you visit – so great value if you will be a regular swimmer.
