Deafblind UK is a national charity supporting people with sight and hearing loss to live the lives they want.

Empowerment is at our heart; through our range of free services we help people to build their confidence and independence; continuing their lives beyond sight and hearing loss.

Losing your sight and hearing can be frightening. Our team of experts is here every step of the way to reassure, advise or just to be someone to turn to if there is no one else.

Our services include:

Information and Advice Line: Whether you have questions about sight and hearing loss, are searching for information or simply need someone to talk to, we are here. The Information and Advice Line is free to call and is open from 9am to 5pm Monday – Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Friday.

Wellbeing: Our members’ wellbeing is of utmost importance to us, so we call all our members at least twice a year to have a chat, see how they are and ensure we are doing all we can for them.

Outreach: Through our outreach service we provide face-to-face, bespoke support through home visits, working with our members to address any issues they might be facing.

Befriending: Volunteer befrienders provide companionship and light support at home enabling members to do everyday things such as shopping, going for walks, meeting friends. Befriending can also take place over the phone or by email.

Casework: Through our casework service, we can support our members to explore their options and rights, ensuring their voice is heard. We can resolve personal issues relating to benefits, care and support, access to health services and much more.

Social groups: Support and social groups bring people with sight and hearing loss together for companionship, to enjoy activities, share advice and tips with each other, and to have fun together (additional fees may apply for some activities).

Digital technology support: Bespoke digital technology support helps people to make the most of their tablet or mobile phone in the way that best suits their level of sensory loss.

Open Hand magazine: Our quarterly magazine, Open Hand, is sent to all members. It features updates from our members and groups across the country as well as useful help, advice and topical articles.

Holidays: We have two holiday caravans, in Wales and Norfolk, available to our members so they can enjoy a relaxing holiday in a friendly environment.
